Condoriri (Kunturiri in Aymara, 5648m / 18,530ft) is one of the most beautiful peaks in the Bolivian Andes. Its shape resembles a condor with its wings spread and according to local legends the largest and fiercest condors of the Andes once lived in the region. The British climber Sir Martin Conway was in 1885 the first foreigner to explore the area. The peak was first climbed in 1941 by Wilfrid Kuhm, though there is a possible unconfirmed ascent by Germán Stoller and Helmut Fritz; a description of a climb of an un-named peak they left at the Club Andino Boliviano in 1926 closely matches the normal route used to climb Condoriri.
