Sugar cane and pasankalla for sale in market for Todos Santos festival, El Alto, Bolivia
Sugar cane is nearly always used when building altars to receive souls. It is said to be a walking stick to help the souls on their journey. The bags on the right are pasankalla, a sweet made from maize with a texture similar to popcorn that is very popular all year round in Bolivia.
