Textile dolls for sale in Chinchero market, near Cusco, Peru
These dolls are modern copies and versions of Chancay burial ‘dolls’ that were used in burials by the pre-Columbian Chancay culture. The Chancay culture existed mainly in the valleys of Chancay and Chillon on the central coast of Peru from around 1000 / 1200 AD until 1450 AD when they were conquered by the Incas.
