Bolivia's population has the highest percentage of indigenous people (around 50%) in South America, the majority in the Andean highland regions. It also has a ridiculous number of festivals, from the famous Oruro Carnival to innumerable small local events, which are invariably noisy, colourful and fascinating spectacles often involving dances, music and costumes specific to the region.
