The Bolivian Navy flag has the national colours bordered by 9 stars which represent the 9 Departments of Bolivia. The lone star against the blue (which represents the sea) symbolises the Litoral, the Pacific coastal department which was lost to the Chileans during the War of the Pacific. Compare with the Maritime Vindication flag / Bandera de la Reivindicación Marítima in the next image, which, is very similar but with the wiphala flag added. The tribute also has the national flowers of Bolivia, the patujú (L) and kantuta (R).
