Los Flamencos National Reserve covers nearly 74,000 hectares near San Pedro de Atacama in the Antofagasta Region. The Reserve is made up of 7 sections in total: 2 cover parts of the Salar de Atacama (Chile's largest salt flat), the Miscanti and Miñiques Lagoons, Salar de Tara (also a designated Ramsar wetland), Salar de Pujsa and Tambillo (an area containing tamarugo forest). The famous Valle de la Luna / Moon Valley is also part of the reserve, in a 7th section that includes some of the Cordillera de Sal and the archaeological site of Tulor.
