CORDILLERA REAL

The Cordillera Real (or “Royal Range”) is the longest and highest mountain range in Bolivia. Many peaks over 6000m can be found in its 100 mile length, several of which can be seen from Bolivia’s capital, La Paz. Its western flanks soar above the altiplano, to the east it drops precipitously to the Yungas region and Amazon lowlands.

Mt. Condoriri

Fresh snow sprinkles the shores of Lake Chiar Kota ("Black Lake" in Aymara"), while the early morning stillness perfectly reflects the peak behind. So named because its form resembles a condor with its wings spread about to take off, Mt. Condoriri (5648m / 18,530ft) is a favourite with mountaineers.
