Torres del Paine is arguably Chile’s best known National Park and one of the highlights of travels in South America. Best known for the three granite towers from which it takes its name, the park also boasts spectacular glacial scenery, lakes and forests as well as an impressive variety of wildlife.

Torres del Paine
One of the natural wonders of South America, the Torres (or Towers) del Paine rise above the Patagonian plains as a testament to the power of glacial erosion and geological uplift. The central tower rises some 1000m vertically from its base, seen here from across the blue waters of Lake Amarga. Amarga means bitter in Spanish, due to the salty nature of the lake's waters
