Lake Titicaca is said to be the world’s highest navigable lake and is also the 14th largest by volume. An 8,400 square kilometre blue jewel in the bleak grasslands of the altiplano, it sits 3810m / 12,500ft above sea level and is shared by Peru and Bolivia.

Tortora reeds at sunset
Wind blown tortora reeds create a soft feathery effect on a cold winter evening. Common around the lake shore and in shallow areas, they have been used for centuries by villagers as building material for houses and boats and also for food.
