Wiñay Wayna

Arguably the most beautiful site along the Inca Trail, Wiñay Wayna is a couple of hours from Machu Picchu and demonstrates the Inca genius for fitting their cities into the surrounding mountainside. It is thought to have been an important ceremonial as well as agricultural centre. The Inca Trail approaches roughly from the centre of the mountain ridge in the background, where the site of Puyupatamarka is situated.
