Salt cones

Salt cones reflected in surrounding pools of water make for a surreal atmosphere. Villagers who live on the edge of the Salar make a living from the salt; first it is raked into conical piles and left for several days to dry before being taken away for processing. These areas are slightly lower as a result and tend to collect any rainwater or seepage.
