Torres del Paine is arguably Chile’s best known National Park and one of the highlights of travels in South America. Best known for the three granite towers from which it takes its name, the park also boasts spectacular glacial scenery, lakes and forests as well as an impressive variety of wildlife.

Lake Pehoe
"Paine" means blue in Tehuelche, language of the original inhabitants, and doubtless refers to the colour of many of the lakes in the region. This view looks down the French Valley and across the turquoise waters of Lake Pehoe towards the Patagonian plains.
