The Andean countries are some of the most biodiverse on the planet. For example, Peru contains some 84 of the worlds known 103 ecological zones and has over 1700 recorded bird species (a total only bettered by Colombia), while Bolivia’s Madidi National Park is thought to contain more species than any other with some 10% of the world total (in an area roughly the size of Wales), with Peru’s Manu National Park very close behind. The Patagonian coasts of Chile and Argentina are home to an impressive variety of marine life and seabirds, with some of the largest penguin and seal colonies to be found outside of Antarctica.

High quality photographic prints with a wide choice of framing options, canvas wrap prints, greeting cards and other products are available. Please visit the Framed Prints page for more details. If you would like a print of any photograph that is not shown in the printing gallery please contact James Brunker at magicalandesphotos@yahoo.com A high resolution version of the desired image can easily be uploaded for you.

Young Andean Condor

Young Andean Condor

Young Andean Condor (Vultur gryphus) soaring over the Colca Canyon, Peru. Condors are one of the world's largest flying birds, adults can weigh around 40kg and have a wingspan of over 3m / 10ft and are awesome soarers, rarely beating their wings once they find a thermal. As vultures they are carrion eaters, which they locate by eyesight rather than smell.
