Ollagüe volcano

One of very few still active volcanoes in Bolivia, Ollagüe volcano (5870m / 19,370ft) can only be climbed using breathing apparatus due to the gases emitted from various vents on its flanks. Ancient lava flows have been eroded into a whole series of bizarre formations. The volcano itself straddles the Bolivia- Chile border to the south of the Salar de Uyuni.
