Lake Llanganuco

The stunning turquoise water of Lake Chinancocha, lower and most popular of the 2 Llanganuco Lakes, is one of the best known sights of the Peruvian Andes. Polylepis cloud forests are a speciality of the high central Andean regions and the peeling orange bark makes for a wonderful colour contrast. The peak in the background is Yanaqpaccha (5460m / 17,900ft).
