The northern part of Chilean Patagonia (also known as the Araucania region) contains one of the world's most beautiful lake districts. As well as lakes the area is renowned for its snow capped volcanoes and is also the only region where you can find native Araucaria or "Monkey Puzzle" forests.

Lake Todos los Santos
Dramatic stormy skies over Lake Todos Los Santos, Chile. Part of the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park, many reckon it to be the most beautiful lake in the Chilean Lake District. The Park is named after an explorer who made a fortune in the Gold Rush and cleared the way for colonisation of the region; today it is a popular boat and bus route for tourists travelling between Chile and Argentina.
