Lanin National Park covers 379,000 hectares of Argentina's northern Patagonia region or Lake District. The Lanin volcano (3776m / 12,390ft) is the highest in the region and sits on the Argentina/Chile border; the Park it also noted for its beautiful glacial lakes and extensive forests (especially southern beech or nothofagus and araucaria).

Rainbow over Patagonian steppe
A passing late afternoon storm leaves a rainbow and dramatic light in its wake. Lying on the eastern rain shadow side of the Andes, Lanin National Park generally has a much drier climate than its counterparts on the Chilean side of the border.
