Llactapata

Llactapata is the first major Inca site encountered on the Inca trail, not far from km88 in a strategically important location where the Kusichaca valley joins the main Urubamba valley. As well as extensive agricultural terraacing it also contains a small Sun Temple (centre of image) similar to the one in Machu Picchu showing the site also had ceremonial importance.
