Window grille, Trujillo

Trujillo contains some of Peru's most beautiful and distinctive colonial architecture, in a very different style to the highland towns. It is particularly noted for its elegant doorways and windows; this is a typical example. The town was founded in 1534 by conquistador Diego de Almagro and named after the town in Spain where Francisco Pizarro, leader of the Inca conquest, was born.
