Lake Titicaca is said to be the world’s highest navigable lake and is also the 14th largest by volume. An 8,400 square kilometre blue jewel in the bleak grasslands of the altiplano, it sits 3810m / 12,500ft above sea level and is shared by Peru and Bolivia.

Puerto Perez
Peace and calm in the shallows near Puerto Perez, with the peaks of the central part of the Cordillera Real in the background. Puerto Perez was briefly Bolivia's main port for shipping exports to Peru after it lost its coastline and before roads and railways were built; now it is a sleepy farming and fishing community.
