Bolivia's population has the highest percentage of indigenous people (around 50%) in South America, the majority in the Andean highland regions. Aymara (especially in La Paz and the altiplano region) and Quechua are the main groups, though there are many others.

Fruit seller, La Paz
One of La Paz's most notable features are its huge sprawling indigenous street markets. The Aymara people are traders as well as farmers, the women or "Cholitas" often manage the business and invariably wear bowler hats.
