The Amazon basin is a world of superlatives. The entire river system carries around 20% of the world's running fresh water, and the volume discharged into the Atlanctic Ocean is around 12 times that of the Mississippi. The world's largest rainforest is also the richest natural environment on Earth, with more animal, bird, plant and insect species than anywhere else. Of the South American countries only Chile doesn't contain part of the Amazon basin.
High quality photographic prints of the Amazon with a wide choice of framing options, canvas wrap prints and greeting cards are available. Please visit the Framed Prints page for more details. If you would like a print of any photograph that is not in the gallery please contact James Brunker at magicalandesphotos@yahoo.com A high resolution version of the desired image can easily be uploaded for you.

Owl butterfly
No prizes for guessing how the Owl butterfly (Caligo eurilochus sulanus) gets its name! As well as being beautifully camouflaged the large false "eye" helps scare off potential predators.
