The Diablada is one of Bolivia’s most famous dances, partly for its spectacular masks and costumes and partly its association with the Oruro Carnival, one of the biggest in South America. It represents the struggle between good and evil. Although originally of Catholic origin, many of the costumes (such as bears and condors) show how a strong pre-Colombian influence on the ceremony has developed.
