Coca plant ( Erythroxylum coca ) growing in landslide debris , Yungas region , Bolivia
Coca plants can give 3/4 harvests a year, depending on conditions. They exhaust the the soil they are grown in after a few years however, and in coca growing regions large areas of native forests are being deforested for coca cultivation. Landslides and other soil erosion related problems are a common result.
