Kusillo character helping pedestrians cross road in La Ceja, El Alto, Bolivia
Kusillos are mischievous characters in Bolivian folklore who are part devil, part monkey and regularly take part in traditional dances in the highlands. They are also now one of several characters taking part in road safety campaigns organised by the city government in El Alto to encourage pedestrians and drivers to respect traffic signals and pedestrian crossings.
