Monument to Alonso de Mendoza and San Sebastian church, Plaza Alonso de Mendoza, La Paz, Bolivia
Spanish conquistador Alonso de Mendoza founded La Paz where the village of Laja now is on 20th October 1548. He then re-founded it at its current location (which he felt was preferable) 3 days later. He is said to have stayed in a building on what is now this square on is arrival.
