The Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve (Reserva Nacional de Fauna Andina Eduardo Abaroa in Spanish, abbreviated to REA or RNFA-EA) covers nearly 715,000 hectares in Sud / South Lípez Province in the far south west corner of Bolivia and is the most visited protected area in the country. The main attraction is Laguna Colorada, an unusual red / orange coloured lake that is an important breeding site for flamingos and was designated a Ramsar Wetland Site in 1990. Many volcanos, mineral lakes (including the spectacular bright turquoise Laguna Verde), the Sol de Mañana geothermal field, high altitude deserts (such as the Siloli Desert) and unusual eroded rock formations can also be visited within the Reserve.
