Potosí Department covers 118,218 km² / 45,644 sq miles in south west Bolivia, its capital is the city of Potosí. The Department borders Chile to the west and Argentina to the south and consists mainly of dry rugged mountains, valleys, high altiplano and volcanic deserts. It has a long mining history and tradition and also contains Bolivia's most impressive natural wonder, the Salar de Uyuni.
