The Yungas is the general name given to the transitional forest zone between the barren highlands and tropical lowland forests on the eastern slopes of the Andes mountains in Peru, Bolivia and northern Argentina. In Bolivia it is most commonly used when describing the Provinces of North and South Yungas and Caranavi in La Paz department. This gallery contains images from these 3 Provinces. Coroico (and the old road to get to it) is the best known location and a popular tourist destination; other important towns in the region include Chulumani, Caranavi, Irupana and La Asunta.
