The Proclamation of the Junta Tuitiva was the Declaration of Independence of the Junta Tuitiva, a group of rebels led by Pedro Domingo Murillo. On July 16th 1809 they declared independence from the Spanish authorities, one of the first uprisings against Spanish rule in South America. The rebellion was put down and the leaders executed; ultimately though it led to Bolivian independence.
