Helmet in the Atacama Regional Museum donated by Claudio Yañez, of the 33 miners trapped inside the San José mine by a tunnel collapse on 5th August 2010, Copiapo, Region III, Chile
33 miners were trapped when a tunnel collapsed in the San José mine (which is near Copiapo) on 5 August 2010. They were finally rescued on 13th October 2010 after 70 days underground, the longest time anyone has survived being trapped underground.
