The 33 miners were trapped underground when a tunnel collapsed in the San José mine on 5 August 2010 at 13.40pm. They were finally rescued on 13th October 2010 after 70 days underground, the longest time anyone has survived being trapped underground. This image shows a basic plan of the site marking the main locations where events took place.
