The bushes are queñuas / Polylepis tarapacana, found in the dry central Andean puna regions of Peru, western Bolivia and northern Chile. It has been found at altitudes of 5200m / 17,060ft on the flanks of Sajama volcano, making it the highest growing tree in the world.
