Carved stone altar, Machu Picchu mountain behind, Machu Picchu, Peru
Carved rocks like this are common in Inca sites and in the Cusco area. They were almost certainly altars for offerings, many are located with views of significant peaks suggesting rituals associated with mountain worship.
