Detail of Arma Christi / Arms of Christ cross outside Puno cathedral , Peru
These crosses are common in Peru and include various instruments of the passion, such as the ladder, spear, rod and sponge, hammer and pincers (on LHS). This one also includes the sacred heart and the sun and moon (which were important deities to the Incas and indigenous people). Note the sword with an ear hanging on the RHS, referring to the moment when Peter cut off a Roman solider's ear when Jesus was arrested.
