Male Peruvian Sheartail hummingbird (Thaumastura cora), showing both long and short tail feathers
Found in tropical and subtropical shrubland, forest edges, agricultural areas and gardens west of the Andes in Peru, southern Ecuador and the far north of Chile (where its range is expanding). Ranges from sea level up to 2800m. The male's extended tail feathers can be 7-10cm long. Local name: picaflor de cora.
