Male Vermilion flycatcher (Pyrocephalus rubinus)
Locally common in open areas with scattered trees and bushes and woodland edges. Found from the southern US through Central and South America, more common in drier regions. Up to a dozen subspecies have been described, the one found in SW Peru and far north of Chile is sometimes called Pyrocephalus rubinus cocachacrae. Local names: churrinche, saca-tu-real, atrapamoscas sangre de toro.
