The current Presidential Palace was built of the orders of President Ballivian in 1846 and completed in 1853. It is also known as the Palacio Quemado (Burnt Palace); it was burnt down by rebels in 1875 (killing 130 people) and was rebuilt in 1882. Also in the image is the Murillo monument.
