The Apolobamba Integrated Management Natural Area (Área Natural de Manejo Integrado Nacional or ANMIN Apolobamba in Spanish) covers nearly 484,000 hectares in northern La Paz department. It was originally founded in 1972 as the Ulla Ulla National Fauna Reserve, before it was expanded and given its current designation in 2000. Its most notable feature is the Cordillera Apolobamba mountain range (which continues north into Peru), and the region is also home to the Kallawaya people. Images of the villages of Charazani, Curva, Pelechuco and other communities located within the ANMIN boundaries can also be found in this gallery.
