Welcome to Uyuni message on side of 2-8-4T Hunslet tank engine built in 1912, Av Ferroviaria, Uyuni, Bolivia
The writing translates as: "Welcome to Uyuni, Railway Centre, Favoured Daughter of Bolivia, Distinguished Servant of the Fatherland. Health, Honour and Fight until the Final Victory". Uyuni became known as La Hija Predilecta / Favoured Daughter of Bolivia in recognition of its generous treatment of troops in transit to / from the Chaco War in the 1930s. It was officially given this title by a government decree on 11th July 1983.
