Volcán Isluga National Park covers nearly 175,000 hectares of mainly Central Andean dry puna in the Tarapacá Region. It lies just to the north of the A-55 Huara to Colchane road, which continues to Oruro in Bolivia (the Park lies along the Bolivian border). As well as high altiplano scenery and wildlife the Park and surrounding region is noted for its Aymara communities and quaint, rustic churches. The Park takes its names from the active Isluga volcano (5550m / 18,210ft).
