Konko Wankane (also spelt Khonkho Wankane / Wakani) was an important Late Formative / pre Tiwanaku era ceremonial site in the Jachcha Jahuira river valley near Jesús de Machaca approx 30km south of Tiwanaku. The Jinchunkala monolith is the largest and most significant at the site. This image shows 2 ascending human figures, and below them 2 faces with serpentine bodies that could be snakes or possibly young catfish (which are still found in marshes and streams near the site).
