When the thick ropes are finished, teams from the communities engage in an informal tug of war contest to straighten out the ropes and apply tension to them. There is quite a bit of competition between the communities to see who can make the best ropes in the quickest time. These thick ropes are then used to make the main foundation ropes for the bridge.
