Waka tintis dancers wearing silver ponchos called kawas musicales, Umala, Bolivia
Waka tintis is a dance of colonial origin from the Umala area, Aroma Province of La Paz Department. The silver / metal ponchos are called kawas musicales or corazas; the coins attached to them make a rattling noise during the dance. The dance is usually performed during the potato sowing season and on any saint's days that occur around the same time (September / October).
