Rufous-bellied seedsnipe ( Attagis gayi) on scree slope, small snowfield in background
Locally common on puna grassland and rocky slopes at high altitude (4400-5500m, lower in southern South America) in Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina. The largest seedsnipe, its scientific name commemorates the French naturalist Claude Gay. Local names: agachona grande, kulle-kulle, perdicita cordillerana.
