Royal or Inca tern (Lorosterna inca, left) and Grey Gull (Leucophaeus modestus)
The grey gull breeds inland in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile. Non breeding birds can be seen on coasts of Chile, Peru and Ecuador all year round, sometimes further afield. The Inca tern breeds on rocky coasts in Chile and Peru, non breeding birds can also be seen further north on the Pacific coast as far as Colombia.
