Brass puma on ground with arrow indicating direction of Kuntisuyo (the western part of the Inca Empire), Cusco, Peru
Tawantinsuyo ("Four Regions") was the name of the Inca Empire, with the capital Cusco at the centre. The puma was a powerful deity for the Incas and many researchers have suggested that the Inca city of Cusco was constructed in the shape of a puma.
