Detail of stone carving of double headed bird (condor?) next to main entrance of colonial church at Laja, Bolivia
This carving could well represent an Andean condor, which was an important deity for many indigenous cultures in the Andes. Male condors have a large comb on the head similar to that in the carving (females a smaller one).
