Modern stone altar in Sanctuary area near Chincana ruins, Sun Island, Lake Titicaca, Bolivia
This altar is made of cut andesite and sandstone blocks and appears to be a relatively modern construction as it is not present in old photos of the Sanctuary area. The cut blocks were noted by early investigators and may have once belonged to another structure in the area. Curiously there is no source of andesite on the island, suggesting they were brought from the mainland.
