Madidi National Park covers nearly 1.9 million hectares in northern La Paz department and is one of the most biodiverse areas on the planet. Its borders include the eastern part of the Cordillera Apolobamba mountain range and a wide range of forest ecosystems from high altitude cloud forest to Amazon rainforest. Over 700 species of fauna and more than 1,000 bird species have been recorded in the Park.
